Captains chairs or 2nd row bench seat in Expedition?

I am going to be getting a used Expedition EL soon. I really wanted a bench seat in the second row because I don't like the idea of having to get in the car in the back seat to strap in a child every time we go out. My oldest is 17 months, we have a newborn and want a 3rd sooner than later. It's entirely possible that we will have 3 kids under 3 so it's not like a 3 year old can strap themselves in in the back.

Given the ages of our kids... would you want captains chairs or a bench seat to do 3 across? I'm not sure if I can give up the bench seat in my search for a car and I wanted some other opinions.

If you don't want to climb in to buckle a child in the third row, get the bench. A friend just got a 2012 sienna. She has no rf seat that works in the middle. Her oldest is now ff at 3 because of that. I love my bench in my explorer. I put both girls side by side on the second row and can flip one side to let ds in the back and if he weren't able to buckle himself I could easily help.

Eta: her dd is also in the third row because of the arm rests making bad installs ff in the second row.

I also love that I can put all my kids in the second row to drop the third row to haul big stuff.
