Booster that fits like a nautilus?

I've tried the affix, turbo booster (regular, not the safe surround- that's next), Monterey, and parkway SG. So far the affix is the best fit, but nothing like the nautilus. We have to replace that due to an accident, and it just seems silly to buy a new nautilus to use it as a booster. The children in question are nearly 7.5. What else should I look at? The issue is the way the belt fits in the guide and retracts, and ease of buckling.

If the shoulder belt is getting stuck in the guide, how about a backless? Do you have head support for the kids?

I do, but I'm just not comfortable with a backless. I suppose it would be ok? It makes me nervous! I hadn't even considered that.

I find the Nauti harder to buckle, so I can't help with that. However, I share your belt retracting woes (even the nauti doesn't retract in one of our cars). Where is your belt coming from and how does it work with the Nauti and not the others? How big is she? Have you tried the Oobr? I'm not a big fan of this seat (because I have tall kids), but it does have nice, big open belt guides.

My 6.5 yo is still harnessed most of the time, so I get why you don't want to put a 7.5 yo in a backless. :)

I find the kiddy cruiser fix pro to be much like the nauti in booster mode. Easy to buckle because it is narrow and the belt guides are to die for

I really like the nautilus's guide too. DD could buckle in it before her others too. She did get used to others after a few weeks though, so if any work in your car with the belts, I'd just keep teaching them to buckle it.

I would try either of the Kiddy boosters, or possibly the Safety 1st Boost Air Protect (the positioning on that is more back and I've found it works well in many vehicles.)

Where would I find the kiddy? I don't know that I've seen it anywhere. He's doing pretty well with the affix, and its a decent fit, we will probably stick with it. I have shown him how to get it snug, which is helping. I'm learning right along with him! I haven't had to think much about how to get a snug fit with a booster, we got so lucky with the nautilus I guess.

It's the third row of an ody, the belts are on the side of the van? The other seats we tried (parkway, Monterey) would just get stuck in the belt guide. We were with a cpst from the little seeding trying those seats. She said she has had the same problem in certain seating positions in her van, but not others. I haven't tried the oobr. Sounds expensive. ;)

I have 2 in boosters- they are both 7, one is about 50" and 50 lbs. the other is about 49" and 43 lbs. they were harnessed at least part time until 6.5., like yours.

DD uses a Parkway SGL in our Ody ('06) 3rd row a lot. I haven't noticed a belt problem, but she is pretty obsessive pulling her belt tight even when it has retracted. I will have to watch closer. She uses a TB there too, but its not particularly tall. I just got a Vivo I can try back there too.

My daughter uses a Boost Air Protect in the third row outboard of our 05 Ody and has no issues. :)

Got it. Mine is even more on the side, so that even the Nauti didn't work. The Oobr's guides are open and even more to the side than the Nauti, so it might work or maybe they'll be too much to the side for your vehicle. It is a lot of money for what it is (IMO), so I'd try the other options first. If the Nauti works for you, then those might too. Good luck!
