I'm an oddy fan too. I would try to find out if the transmission is rebuilt though. I know that can be a big bill. I think that oddy will have a lot more miles left in it...we drove our 2000 to 237000 (only died because my brother crashed it).

NOT the Ody. 2002 is a MY with known tranny problems. Run far away from that one unless the seller has documented proof that the problem was fixed by a dealer.

I'm really not bothered by the transmission issues but my dad found someone to redo ours for around $2,000. Maybe I'm biased because that's the car we grew up in and my brother and I learned to drive in and that ultimately saved his life. Even after the transmission repair is done those vans have a lot left to give.

My Nephew is a mechanic, and my neighbour is a mechanic for Toyota. They both told me about the transmission issues. Both feel it is a better investment, even of I pay $2k for the transmission. Im torn.

The Caravan did break down today. The alternator is being replaced.

I would totally agree. You're talking one issue, expensive issue, yes, but IMO you'll be nickle and dimed with the other option and it'll add up.
