Five year old on airplane

According to FAA regs my daughter at 50 lbs does not need a car seat/ restraint system at all on a plane. However, she is currently still In her Graco Nautilus in the 5 point harness. She knows it is a safe choice. Can she be in a booster seat with the lap belt on the plane, or will they tell us she can't use it since she is 50 lbs? Any advice would be appreciated.

Booster seats can only be used with a lap and shoulder belt. It is safe to install the Nautilus with the airplane seatbelt and use the harness for your daughter. What airline are you flying?

Put a different way, you can never use a booster seat with a lap only belt, whether on an airplane or in a car.

Plus airlines do not allow the use of booster seats since the're not safe with just the lap belt... For a 5yo 50# child I would feel comfortable if she just uses the seatbelt of the aircraft.

I agree that a 50lb 5 year old will be safe in a lap belt on a plane. However, if you need the carseat when you arrive for car travel the safest way to transport it is on the plane with your kid sitting in it.
