3 seats in the back of a 2009 caravan - Canada

Hi,

I am new to the forum, and am trying to figure out how to get 3 seats into the back of our 2009 caravan.

As far as I can tell there is only one latch position, but with my current seat, Alpha Omega convertable it fills it up. I could see putting another seat on the split with a seatbelt but what do I tether that to?

What are the options? Is there a after market tether that I can add?
Or are there seats out there that are ok without a tether?

I am talking about only forward facing seats in the back atm.

Thank you,

Glenn

Hello and welcome to car-seat.org!

At this point in time there is no way to retrofit additional tether anchors in the 3rd row. You have one in the centre which can be used either with the centre seat belt, or the lone set of lower anchors back there which does take up the entire 60 part of the 60/40 bench. You have two tether anchors in your 2nd row. Your option, if you require three seats back there, is to get a new narrow seat to put in the centre position with top tether and either rear-face or booster (as appropriate) any additional children.

With some more information we can help you figure out what would work best. What are the ages, weights, standing height and seated torso height (bum to shoulder) of all of the children, and specifically what seats do you have?

Right now we have a 3 1/2 year old boy, 1 1/2 year old boy. Then another on the way.

For our family we can get by with just the latch locations. But my wife is planning on running a daycare which is why I am looking into getting 3 seats across the back.

They will be younger kids so the RF option does sound like a good one.

Currently we own the following seats:

Graco Snugride infant seat
Safety 1st Alpha Omega
Evenflo Chase lx

Here is the link that brought me here, they are describing adding a tether.

Unfortunately, Chrysler has decided that post 07 vans (the new body style) cannot have the retro-fit added. This information was brought to light after the thread you linked was created.

Getting three seats across you back row is doable, but it takes strategy, and you will do seatbelt installs for all three.

Is your 18 month old rear facing or forward facing?
