lap-shoulder belts :o(

I've always hated doing installs with lap-shoulder belts (generally speaking) but at 34 weeks pregnant I literally broke a sweat installing a Maestro in my dad's car last night. We needed it outboard since the dog was riding next to DS so lap-shoulder was my only option. It probably took me 10-15 minutes of listening for the shoulder belt to click the try the buckle again... Wiggle... Too much movement... Listen for click again. Today I moved it to the center position where there is a lap only belt and it took less than a minute to get it in without any movement. I think I'm done doing installs until after the baby comes. Well, exception only for the KF30 bases I still need to put in the cars for said baby.

Am I the only one that hates lap-shoulder belts? Maybe part of the problem is lap-shoulder + leather seats. :)

Generally I prefer L/S belt installs. Since having children, I've only had leather seats.

ETA. I've only owned vehicles with locking retractors.

I will say that I HATED installing car seats while PG though.

It depends on the vehicle. Our old van had locking latchplates, so seatbelt installs were easy. Our new van has locking retractors and it's a pitb to get anything tight enough. But the belts (with locking retractors) in my husband's and fil's cars are super easy to get a good install.

Sent from my phone. Please excuse typos.

The center lap belt was the only thing I miss about my Cavalier. If I didn't adjust the belt length I could install the same seat again in less than 30 seconds rock solid.

I think I've only ever installed once with a l-s belt with a locking latch plate. I shouldn't rule out all l-s belts but with sliding latch plates... Grrr. :)

This!!!

I'm 34 weeks pg too and needed to clean the vs and, um, crumbs! Lol. Uninstalled Radian RXT,removed the plus 1 seat, moved the out board seat over and then reinstalled the RXT. This after a new install in husbands truck for new BLvd.... Sigh. When baby comes I'll need to install the Bsafe and Marathon... I don't trust my darling husband to do it. :)

At 34 weeks pregnant, I can break a sweat putting on my socks. :)

To answer the actual question, it definitely depends on the car and the seat(s) involved.
