Booster use with short buckle stalk

What are your tips for using a booster when the female part of seat belt is almost flush with the seat itself?

I know in my case (2004 ford focus with turbo booster and parkway), I just need to make sure that the booster is not actually sitting in the buckle. Still not the easiest for anyone to buckle though.

Any tips?

Give time for buckling. Two of the three cars we've had this year have had this (Seat Exeo and Opel Astra, basically an Audi A4 and Saturn Astra). Piper's booster is LATCHed in with rigid LATCH, so that helps to make sure it won't go over the buckle. Otherwise she just gets a lot of seatbelt out and leans far over to deal with it. It helps here that the seatbelts don't lock in this case, since she never locks them on herself accidentally.

When I have kids in our 3rd row (2 NBB when DD has a friend over) they usually have an easier time with the buckle that is flush to the seat than the one with the longer floppy strap that then need 2 hands to buckle.

So it might take a little practice but making sure the booster isn't sitting on the buckle is the main difficulty.
