"Side Impact Tested" what does it mean?

I recently got a new rxt and turbo booster (replacements after collision). They both have labels saying they have side impact protection. What does this mean? Is it a 2012 compliance thing, a marketing ploy, or are these 2 seats really offering more side impact protection than the older versions?

There are no Canadian standards for side impact protection, so either it's something the manufacturer has independently determined through their own testing that actually does provide some measure of protection, or it's a marketing ploy. I'm personally in favour of some side impact protection, more so in certain vehicles or seating positions, but rear facing in itself provides significant side impact protection, so do that as long as you can.
