Female buckle stalk too long for cosco topside?

I think the cosco topside may not fit in my car (12 Terrain). The female belt stalk is not super long but it comes out right at the topside armrest. So when you buckle it and route the shoulder belt over the arm, the male end is right against the armrest sorta sitting on the whole buckle. It very awkward and the booster wants to slide forward because there is all this slack on the belt attaching the female end to the car seat.

Does that make sense? I tried really hard to describe it.

Can you scoot the booster away from the buckle stalk enough to resolve the problem?

I can't. The vehicle seat is sculpted. :(

Oh, well, it was just strange since it seemed to fit so well until I tried to buckle it with a child in it. I don't have to use it in this car. I have just never heard of it happening. Probably isolated.

Yeah, I can see that happening. We have a bunch of these boosters now shaped all the same and they'll all have the same fit problems.
