Question Prius Seat Configuration

I have a friend who has an 8 year old, 5 year old and 1 year old. Her husband drives a Prius and they want to be able to fit all three kids in the back in their seats. Her 8 year old is in an Evenflo Deluxe booster, and they're ready to move their 5 year old into a booster (preferably 5pt harness) and the baby from the infant seat to a convertible, but are having a lot of trouble finding seats that will fit three across in the vehicle.

Any suggestions as to what seat they should get for their 5 year old and their 1 year old that will fit in a Prius next to their 8 year old in her booster, would be great. Money is tight, so if the seat is under $200 that would be even better.

Thanks so much!

A lot of combos will fit if they're willing to use a Bubblebum for the 8 y/o in the middle... A Maestro and SureRide outboard might be cheapest?

Thanks for your quick reply creideamh, are there other options you can suggest that include them keeping the current booster their 8 year old is in?

With a bubble bum in the middle they will be golden! I would probably look for a convertible that has a base or narrows at the base. And the Evenflo big kid is the best booster fit I've found on the passenger side that allows the most room.

I have had RF Radian, bubblebum, big kid. I currently have Peg 5-70, bubblebum, big kid. The peg is wider overall but because its on a narrow base it actually leaves more room for buckling!

Thank you, ladies! My only concern about changing her 8 year old's booster to the Bumblebum is that she is only 42lbs. Her 5 year old is 40lbs, but I don't think she wants to move him into the booster either.

It'll be a lot more difficult with a HBB, unfortunately (likely involving sliding out to the door, buckling, sliding back in.) The only thing I can think of that could go in place of the Bubblebum in the middle is the Radian... so you could do 2 Radians (if the 5 y/o fits) FF outboard & RF center and a HBB outboard... but I'm not sure you'll get the current HBB in. It'll be a megaaaa tight squeeze. I wouldn't be concerned about an 8 y/o in the Bubblebum, as long as she's over 40lbs, so if it's an occasional thing... that'd be my first choice and definitely open up more (and cheaper) possibilities.
