Urgent Chicco Keyfit question

Can a rolled towel be used under base to adjust angle for a preemie?
Customer Service said you just use the base to adjust but didn't really know about towels for preemies. And they said use the angle indicator, which I don't have faith in. :) I was routed to a carseat specialist for their company but that could take 24 hours.

So I wonder can a 45 be achieved with just adjusting the base? I hope so. Obviously they don't want to over-recline.
A family member's baby is about to come home and they are wondering. I don't own this seat and I am not familiar with it. Any issues with preemies? He is 4 lbs., by the way.
Thanks!

The Keyfit was a great fit for my daughter (born at 4 lbs 14 oz). The base has little leg extensions that you can slide in or out to get the right angle - it's very easy to adjust. I suppose in some cars with extreme slopes on the back seat it might need more recline, but I would think it unlikely. What vehicle will the seat be installed in?

And why do you not trust the recline indication? It works fine! There is also a line marked on the seat that should be parallel to the ground - you can double-check that as well.

The base has a really nice recline foot, so I doubt you'll need a towel unless it's a mega sloped car. And I agree with PP, the bubble works well on the KF.

Like the others stated its awesome for preemies, my sister in-law had them for her twins that came early. I also had one and the bubble indicator is very nice...every thing about that seat is nice.

You can not use a towel or noodle with a key fit, use only the built in recline. Push the two orange buttons on the top of the base to extend it. For a newborn recline it as much as possible while keeping the bubble in the acceptable range, when you're on level ground.
