snugride 30 with 35 base

I recently purchased a snugride 30 for our newborn, and an extra 35 base for my husband's car. Unless I'm missing something, it seems like there is no way to tell if the 35 base and seat are level in his car since there is no indicator on the seat or 35 base. Is this right? Is there a way to work around this, or should I return the base and order another 30 base? I'd be installing it in a 2002 Accord, does anyone have experience with that?

Yes, it should work. There is no level indicator on the 35 base so you use the line on the seat. I used a 35 base with my SR30 seat and used the red line. If you aren't comfortable with using the line, go to a seat check and they will be able to help you make sure the seat is at the correct angle.

Car seat manuals can be very confusing sometimes!! Good job reading it and coming here to ask questions. :)

If you have a smart phone, you can download an app (clinometer?) and measure the angle along the seat back. You want a 45 degree angle for a newborn.
You can also fold a square paper corner to corner to make a triangle, and put the long side against the seatback (where baby's back would be). When the top line of the triangle is level with the ground, you have a 45 degree angle.
