How wet is too wet?

For harness straps? I didn't submerge mine but they had to be run under a faucet for a while. How much water is too much? I'm debating ordering new ones but I always order new ones and it becomes expensive. They are brand new straps. I try to adhere by all the rules but sometimes they just don't get clean with just spot cleaning or wipes.

Eta... I got written approval from britax in sweden to let me really clean my twe straps so it makes me wonder what is the true difference.

Personally, just running water over them I don't believe will harm them. You could call the company and ask, just to be sure.
My feeling is that the acid from puke, poop, or spit up could be far worse on straps than plain ol water.

I wouldn't worry about running water, I mean puke is pretty much stinky running water :p
I'd avoid tugging or scrubbing them, or using cleaners.
ETA: How did Britax Sweden say to clean the TWE straps?

FWIW, I just talked to Graco CS about this exact same thing. Spot cleaning wasn't an option. I rinsed in plain water and dabbed with a clean towel. No soap. The rep I communicated with had no reservations about it. HTH

:yeahthatlove:

*Personally*, I've always thought that and think that the acid from bodily fluids is going to do way more damage than water which is neutral (or almost depending on where you live). I phoned SKJP (not that their word means anything) when my youngest vomited on his straps and asked to speak to a senior person, was told essentially the same thing...

I've never understood where or how don't put straps in the washing machine (what I understood was the original don't wash statement) became wash with baby wipes (which have chemicals in them anyway and won't remove the acid) *only*.
