Graco Smart Seat?

Wasn't there a lot of anticipation for this seat? Did it fail miserably? I've never heard it mentioned or suggested for a seat. I remember hearing short height for rfing and ffing, maybe?

Wondering if it might be a good seat for Grandma's car, where she would use it for three different kids (2rfing and 1 ffing now) Easy install? Not worth the price?

I personally really like it and for a Grandparent's car for multiple children there really isn't anything easier.

I guess I'm the opposite because there's no way in heck I'd trust grandma and grandpa to switch it up and use it correctly for different kids all the time

It has a no thread harness and you turn it about without uninstalling the base. You can't use it not hooked into the base either because the hooky-in thingies stand straight up into the seating area. Other than the weight, I'm not sure how it would be more difficult than something like a Scenera.

With a little education grandparents do quite well with carseats as long as they are willing to learn. I taught my then 70yo grandpa to install and use a Radian and he did excellent.

I would go with a True Fit or two over the Smart seat :) No base but just as easily switched and adjusted for different children. Its cheaper and lighter too.

Can't do TF (dont care for them) we need a 40lb rfing limit.

I was looking at something very easy to install, the weight and space needs make it not a good choice though.

Maybe the Evenflo Symphony E3. It is really easy to install with SureLatch in most vehicles and changing harness height is also easy.

This is the seat I've thought of too, I think the sure latch would be a good option but I'm not up to date on the latch rules now, would they need to do a seatbelt install past 40 lbs?

We have multiple of the Graco Smart Seats. We really do like them. I like how easy it is for my older kids to grab one out of the van and put it in a different vehicle. Because there really is no way to do it wrong as long as you know where the harness should be at. There is no struggling with seat belts or latch. There is no worrying about recline...
Now I will say we had an issue with one of them, and the harness buckle got stuck. We ended up having to cut the harness. But that was only on one of them.

It is a bit heavy and wide, but I love how I can use it for small rear facers, bigger rear facers, bigger forward facers, and even as a booster.
