I was looking at infant seats and I like the cover on one of these and wonder if they are better then they used to be?

No. They really aren't. They have changed the handle from Z to straight, but there is still the hook on the front, so you have to put the infant seat fairly upright to get it in or out of the base.

I had one in 2006 it was a 3pt but it never bothered me. I only got a graco because I read on here it was better to have a 5pt

Eta: I wasn't car seat crazy back then for another few months haha

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for a variety of reasons. It is rear adjust only, it requires the handle to be down and 1.5in of clearance between the handle and the seat, the seat to base connection doesn't seem very secure compared to other seats, no infant insert so of course everyone gets the giant ones at wm.

At that price point you can get a cosco comfy carry that has alot more features, is front adjust and comes in pretty patterns.

I wouldn't recommend it for all the reasons listed above. I used one for 6 months and it's the only car seat I've ever really disliked.

If you're looking for a budget friendly seat you could go with the Comfy Carry Elite (or Elite Plus) or start with a convertible at birth- the right convertible could get your child to booster age and would be more economical than an infant seat that would last ~6-12 months.
