Weighted vests?

A friend of mine had a question, and thought maybe someone here might be able to help.

Her son will be getting a weighted vest (ASD Therapy) and she was wondering if she will be able to use the vest while in a vehicle.

Her son is still in a harnessed seat, but could also legally (just not developmentally ready) to sit in a booster as well, if need be.

Does anyone have any experience with vests in seats?

She is in Canada.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I would think the harness would provide a similar "feedback" and perhaps he could use a weighted blanket over the harness on child lap/draped over torso if he needs more pressure.

I would consider two things:

1) How much bulk is added when he's wearing the vest?

2) Does he still meet the weight limit for the seat if the weight of the vest is included?

I'm not very familiar with the vests, but I'm wondering why the parent thinks it is needed when in the car.
