Diono RXT question

Our RXT came today (love it!), but I can't help but wonder/worry about the sides that are adjustable breaking. Has anyone experienced this? I didn't notice they were hinged until I climbed off the seat from installing it and was glad I didn't break it on the first day. Otherwise, I love it. We got it in the Trekk fabric!

I have only had my RXT for 6 months but haven't had any issues with the sides breaking. I FEEL like I'm going to break them every time I adjust them in or out though.

Yes, I broke one of them, either when I knelt in it or when I was trying to slam the stupid cupholder in (which still doesn't work in any of the 6 holes.) It just kinda flops around now. :p

I think DH snapped one of DD's when he was trying to get a tight fit in our "old" van. It still stays in the "up" position but there's no more "snap" to it.

I. Hate. Them. Annoys the ever-loving heck out of me. DS hates it (he's always asking why is "mammofage" seat moves but his red one doesn't. He would yell that his seat wasn't tight enough ALL THE TIME. Drives me nuts.

I never had one break. I mean, I never knelt directly down on it either :p

I didn't realize that they flipped in or out until after he had done it. With as low of a profile as it already has, IMO it's just one more thing to break and I don't know that it's necessary.

Even though a mechanism to switch them other than brute force would be nice, I kind of like them. It is nice to flip them in for really tight 3 across scenarios or flip them out for a bit of extra room.

Mine adjust better if I grab them and move them (instead of pushing or pulling). I suspect that downward pressure makes them want to stay where they are.

I also like that they adjust. When we just got the Radian, I liked them up and closer to baby. He'll probably appreciate the extra leg room when he's bigger. Though, with the price of the things, I would have liked a push-button release to adjust.
