Recaro convertibles and babies

My almost 9 month old DD2 is too small for our Recaro Euro. The bottom slots are below her shoulders but I can't tighten the harness enough. She's skinny but long. She wears some 9 month and some 12 month clothes. So it's not like she's really tiny. (I don't know her measurement but she's maybe 16-17 lbs and maybe 28-30 inches long) I triple checked and it's tightened as far as it can go, it's not caught on anything. I checked the Proride DD1 (she's 2) rides in too and there is only maybe 2-3 inches of harness left to tighten on hers with her in it.
So yeah I know they say you can get an infant insert but really? My 9 month old can't fit? I can pinch about an inch of harness.

My DS2 is NOT a happy camper, I got a Sonata MR (pink ) and he fell in love with it and is very upset the baby has to ride in it now.
I do like my Recaros but this kinda irritates me. I'm really tempted to just sell them on CL and get something different. :(

Someone recently posted a similar problem about a Como (I think), and Recaro shipped them an insert for free. You could probably contact them, and at least get a workable seat.

Someone also found clearance MRs at Target. It seemed like a one-off thing, but probably worth a try!

The infant insert is free. I managed to find a 3 month old to try out in my euro. He was huge, though! He fit fine without the insert.

My son fit in our Signo G2 when I tried him in it at 4 months old with the infant insert. The straps were right at his shoulder, so he just barely was big enough, but did fit. At the time, he was average to small for his age.
