Where does top tether go with a headrest?

I am trying to install my new (well new to me) Husky. I have headrest that do not come out. I have 2 pictures which one is the right way?

I asked the same question before. Might've been in a PM.
Anyway, my vehicle manual says to route under the head rest. But, that's not logical with a Britax V shaped tether. We do it around as in your first picture.

I was told by a tech on another board to rout the tether in the straightest and shortest path. Since it seems to be much straighter to put the tether around the headrest in your car that is what i would do, and that is what I do with the tether in my car.
