Coccoro for preemies?

we are expecting this baby to be a preemie too ( might as well plan for it now than act surprised lol ) Anywhoo. . . I know I am going to buy the chaperone for my odyssey as our infant seat, Jocelynn was a smidge over 4lbs when coming home from the hospital and it is by far the best preemie fit. I don't think it will fit in steven's Saturn Vue so I am kinda leaning towards the idea of the coccoro. How is the preemie fit considering it has a 3lb minimum weight limit? any IRL photos?

Combi will give you a letter on its use with preemies if you ask (including guidance on them allowing use with shoulders under bottom slots if fit is otherwise good.)

For what it's worth if you have a chance of small boned narrow shouldered baby, it may not be a great fit for that build even for larger babes at birth.

Have you tried ALL the infant seats rated for preemies? I ask because there are now a LOT. Many have only come out in the last two years or so. Many would do way better in a Vue than the Chaperone.

Even if you're set on the Chaperone just because you like it for your car, the Comfy Carry Elite/Elite Plus is very cheap (check the thread on the Khol's sale!) and is also compact and should do well for a small preemie.

I also like the keyfit a lot too but I was thinking i didn't want to buy two separate infant seats. I know the coccoro won't last very long for a toddler but I though, hey it will buy us some time between seats if it will work out. Is there such a thing as a broad shouldered preemie? lol this might knock the coccoro out for us, or we could still buy it and not plan on going anywhere in daddy's car for a few weeks/months. ah who knows what I will do, I just hate to buy two seats that will be outgrown around the same time and have to shell out for money to 2 new seats just months after purchasing the 1st 2 at the same time kwim?

Well the Chaperone will last longer than the others, so you'd at least stagger your buying. Or find something that's a better fit in his car and do that in both cars instead.

I did put a 4.5 lb baby in the Coccoro just to see the fit. She technically fit very well, it just looks ridiculous with that big chest clip! It seemed like the shoulders would be too wide but they weren't actually...it's hard to describe. I do have a picture somewhere if you'd like, I can try finding that tomorrow.

As long as you can get away with not using dad's car for a little while in the beginning I would personally not worry about getting the seat that will fit the teeniest baby and go for something longer lasting. Or cheaper. For the price of the Coccoro you might as well just get a less expensive infant bucket *and* a convertible.

But I do :love::love::love: my Coccoro.

Yeah an OnBoard 35 is fairly compact front-back, fits preemies divinely, and will last almost as long as a CCO...
