Oooooh, I'm getting my van ready for my second Recaro...

How sad to be exited to be getting a used Start, but it's going to match mine, and it's from someone I know who adores Recaros, so wheeeeeee! I'm just waiting on the fedex man, and it's a cool day, so I went out there and de-funked my car (what IS that brown sticky stuff? Do I really want to know?)

So the really funny thing is, I have the most expensive highback booster you can own, the most expensive no-back booster you can own (clek), and the cheapest possible convertible in my car (walmart scenera)...I'm surprised my car doesn't just tip over from the inequity of the seats in it.. (normally I'd have the RA in there, but it was in dh's car and the S was much easier to install than the Radian, which I'd put in dh's car, but it's a bit too big RF...).

I'll post pictures when my seat comes!!!!

ROTFL - I'm right there with you. I've been anxiously checking my front porch for the FP booster I ordered so I can put my 11 year old BACK in a booster in dh's car! (Hey, he's a small 11 year old!)

(3 Turboboosters don't fit well in the back of a VW Golf...)

LOL -- you forgot about the Impact cushion -- the most expensive non-American add-on you can have :p

Now I just want to see what your van looks like

LOL Julie. I'm glad you're so excited.
It's actually a used Start that wasn't used much. While getting it ready to ship, my dd asked me if she ever used it and I told her just for a little while. You'd think she'd remember. My ds used it while waiting for his Monarch to arrive. It's spent most of it's time waiting to be used so it should find happiness in your vehicle doing what it's supposed to do, lol.

It's funny *I* remember when your dd sat in that seat, and she doesn't! (Like bitsy got a new bike and suddenly had no recollection of her old one she'd ridden just 6 months earlier...)

Yeah, I was kind of not mentioning that Start impact cushion (so illegal, and all... lol)...but it's the reason I really wanted the second Start... they fit outboard in the back of my minivan, and I can put the girls in the Starts and Karsten in the 86-Y or seatbelt in the middle... it's such an elegant solution when we have visitors and need the middle captain's chairs for them... (Debbie, my kid's not much/any bigger than yours, I totally understand needing a booster 'forever', lol)

It's beeeeeeyooooootiful! http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/StartsAndCenterBeltGuide?authkey=iEfXTupxXn8

I wish I could get some of those way-colorful Start covers they have in other countries, but these are nice... :)

Oh, that other thing is my homemade belt guide contraption: a bag strap wrapped around the seatback and hooked to itself, with a booster seat belt guide threaded on it. I don't think it's any different from the straps and hooks and whatnot that lots of cars have to make the seatbelts fit better, so I'm comfortable using it (and it works great, that belt is awful! Honda should have put something there to make it fit better).

Oh, and ps, I did NOT pay full MSRP for these seats... man, $349 would make my wallet burn... I (and threerugratz) got them on clearance for $199... a much more reasonable price for a seat with a tall back, deep seat, and no expiration date.

Yeah, that belt rides on MY face :p... Someone found this aftermarket product (I don't have a link...anyone?) in the UK to pull belts off to the side a tad, and I just rigged my own version of it free. It just pulls the seatbelt over to the side a tich so it's on the shoulder rather than the neck and face...
