Question Recaro Prosport belt tightening

So we got a Prosport from NBD. It came with tags attached and in the box. We have only used it a couple times. Today we took it on a longer drive and I notice when I tighten the harness, it doesn't seem to get as tight as I think it should. It's tight, but only tightens to a certain point. Then it seems to act like it ratchets when tightening, but it doesn't get any tighter after a certain point. It's tight but not as tight as I think it could get. This is my 1st Recaro seat, so wasn't sure if this is normal. TIA.

I have a Prosport, but what you're describing doesn't sound like anything my seat has ever done. It just tightens like you would expect.

Do you think it would matter how many pads were in the seat. I took 1 out, but left the back one. Also wondering if I took the harness pads off, I'm not a big harness pads person and I didn't see anything about them being required.

It pulls to tighten very easily, but it just feels like I should be able to get DD smashed in if I wanted to and I don't feel like I can with this seat. It's tight enough, and doesn't loosen when pulled on or anything, but I'm use to seats basically cutting off your child's circulation if you tried hard enough and this seat doesn't do that. I just feel like I want them a hair tighter. I'll call Recaro tomorrow and ask if they think it's an issue. I think I heard they have good customer service...
