Evenflo Triumph in Civic 2001

Hi I tried out the Triumph in the outerboard on our Civic using LATCH. Rear facing, child is 13 months and 20 lbs 14 oz.
My questions are:

1- The Triumph seems to tilt a tiny bit toward the center (when looking from behind & outside the car). Is this ok?

2-LATCH seems ok and very tight. Question is how can I remove it?

3-How do I use the harness? It seems dificult to adjust (like loosening it --which harness do I pull?). I feel sorry for my son since he doesnt seem to enjoy it each time he rides in his new carseat. Also the harness adjusters seem to get buried in the upholstery that it's difficult to adjust.

4- Crotch harness seems to high for him. Is this ok?

5-Where is it best to put the noodle to get 45 degree angle inclination?

Thanks.

A few quick answers-

1) As long as it is not lifting up off the vehicle seat cushion, a very slight tilt should not be a problem. Sometimes, this is caused by the tension on a locked shoulder belt. If the tilt is significant, a locking clip is sometimes used and the shoulder belt is left unlocked.

2) You can find some removal tips in our guide at http://www.car-safety.org/latch.html

3) The Evenflo memory harness can actually be easier than a normal harness to use. Even so, I have difficulty remembering how to use it every time I see one at an event. I think practice is probably the best way since it is a fairly unique system.

4) It shouldn't be a problem for safety as long as it seems to allow a reasonably fit.

5) At 13 months and 20 pounds, your child will actually be a bit safer with less recline (more upright) than 45 degrees. The 45 degree maximum is usually only recommended for newborns and young infants before they have enough neck strength to support their heads.

Please let us know if you have more questions!

Triumph in Civic 01

I finally have our son forward facing on his Evenflo Triumph. Has anyone used the Triumph in a reclined position (there are 4 positoins) when forward facing?

My probem is that when the carseat is reclined when forward facing, there is a gap between the base of the Triumph and the Civic's rear seat. Does this gap pose a danger to the toddler?

I would appreciate your response. Thanks!
