Tether necessary for Roundabout 50?

Hi everyone! I called Britax to see what they had to say but wanted to ask here as well. Is the tether necessary for rear facing? And is it necessary for forward facing?

Our roundabout 50 does not have a tether. It is possible that it came with one and it fell off or something but it doesn't have it now and we are trying to figure out if we can even still use the seat. I think I read on here that Britax no longer sells these separately either.

Thanks!

RF tether is not required, FF top tether is required when using LATCH and HIGHLY recommended with seatbelt install. is this a 2nd hand seat? i cant imagine that anything not way expired doesnt have a top tether.

It's not required rear facing, not required with the seatbelt forward facing unless you're in Canada, and something's happened to your seat. The Roundabout 50 has always always always had a top tether.

There is a pocket for it at the top of the seat cover, but no latch attached or inside the pocket. Is it something that is easily removed?

This isn't a second hand seat, but it is an online return from Target. It was the first convertible we purchased and had no clue what we were doing or how they worked exactly. We used it for a couple of months rear facing and have been storing it the rest of the time. Now its time to switch my second daughter over to a convertible so we need to use it.

No. Numbers are not released and rear facing tethers are not standard anyway so they're not compared.

But it has to be there, or something has happened to the seat. If you didn't remove it (no, it's not easily removed) then I wouldn't trust it with a child. It's got some sort of history.

My Roundabout 50 has some kind of stitching where the tether meets the seat. Apparently, one way to tell if it's been in an accident is if the stitching is torn. I guess it's not on all of them but I think the concept is the same, that if the tether isn't stitched on anymore, it's been in an accident. Maybe you could call the company and see what they think.

also you might be able to take it up with target even though it's been so long. it's worth a shot!

When I called Britax to tell them i didn't have a tether, they said it wasn't necessary for forward or rear facing. Period. No questions, no explanation that it depends on whether it is a latch or seat belt install. Nothing.
