Diono Radian in booster mode

We're nowhere close to being able to use our Radian in booster mode, but I have a question about it. My kids are light weights and probably won't weigh 50 pounds for a very very long time. If a child fits the booster mode well (belt at middle of the shoulder, low on the lap, not on belly) but doesn't weigh 50 pounds, are you allowed to use it? Any ideas why not (of course the manual says to wait till 50)?

No they must be 50lbs. My guess is they're trying to keep young kids out of out of booster mode.

No, you must wait till 50 lbs. Maybe they tested it with a lighter dummy and it failed. Or maybe it was never tested with less than 50 lbs. Either way, you definitely don't want to ue it sooner.

From what I have read, this is a problem with a lot of kids - by the time the child reaches 50 lbs, the seat is actually outgrown in booster mode. So for those of us with lightweights, it can never be used as a booster (which is a bummer, because I love the narrowness)
