what is this "camlock adjuster" you speak of? did they fix the harness adjuster that seems to annoy everyone so much?

I'm pretty sure cam lock adjuster is what it already had- you can only pull the webbing one direction without lifting the plate to loosen it. Most front adjust seats have a cam lock. As another example, the CCO lock-off also has a unidirectional cam.

I hope "safeglide" is actually an improvement to the Diono adjuster.

that's what I mean, by safeglide do they mean this is no longer a ratcheting type harness adjuster?

I just bought this seat and for the life of me I cannot tighten the harness. My husband was able to but it didn't seem tight enough.

Do you have any tips/tricks? I'm using it rear facing.

Pull the slack of the harness behind the seat using one hand, and pull the adjuster strap with the other. Repeatedly pulling the strap should also get it tighter (pull to stop, release, repeat).
