News DSC/Sci Plane Crash special

Plane Crash "A 727 plane is programmed to crash into a desert via remote control in an effort to improve airline safety."

It aired last night after Mythbusters, and it's on again several times this week. I haven't seen it yet, but it looks like it could be educational for Techs and CPS Advocates. I know the Mythbusters plane crash position episode was enlightening, and that was only a small part of the episode!

According to TVGuide.com, it's airing tonight at 8 pm & 11 pm (Central) on the Science Channel, and again on Wed the 10th at 3 am. Then it will be on Discovery on Wednesday at 6 pm and midnight (technically Thursday) Central time.

http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=232192&highlight=plane+crash apparently many here think the episode/experiment all but useless... that this just highlights one specific crash dynamic and has close to zero overall usefullness minus the no lap baby thing that would be universal.

It got too late so I thought would they EVER get to the crash???
So anyway, what's the conclusion? To brace or not?

And I didn't see any child seats or kid dummies. I was so annoyed. I wanted to see what a carseat would do, even RF and FF. But I didn't see the whole thing so maybe I missed something.

They ended up saying in this case the brasing was a good idea since the unbrased dummy was hit with debree. They didn't mention kids/seats at all during the special but I think we could all agree in this survivable crash that lap babies would be hurt/dead. They did test unbelted passengers and they did not do well. And yes, I agree that it took forever to get to the crash part!

Brace. Not only does that make you a smaller/lower target when the debris starts flying, but it lowers head acceleration and decreases spinal injury.

I haven't seen the episode yet, but the whole thing where they drag out 30 minutes of actual information to fill 2 hours drives me nuts.
