Booster?

Erghh...searching for forums to find out a good booster recommendation for a "new to boostering" 5-year-old. It would be used in my husband's Chevy (4-door (not the kind that's 2 full on doors, but the kind you have to open the front door first to open the back door). She would not be traveling on long trips in this..just a daily short commute to school and back mostly, so hopefully something good but not expensive. She is 40 lb. and would be in a harnessed seat in other vehicles.

Thanks for any help!

Hi. There are lots of highback boosters from which to choose now, in all price ranges. You may want to start by looking at the Graco highback boosters. The Harmony Dreamtime and Evenflo Big Kid Amp are others to consider as well.

I really  the information on the seat measurements subforum, summarized here:

http://www.car-seat.org/announcement.php?f=61

There are a lot of great boosters out now, and the choice is tough. Using the spreadsheets you can sort by size, weights, latch feature, etc.

The two boosters we have both fit smaller kids great. We have Vivo and love the fit on dd and ds has even used it with a perfect fit. Nice fit across the lap. DD also fits great in the Turbo. We use both as spares. However, neither of these latch which is a feature I'm looking for in a fulltime booster.

Things to think about when shopping:

  • Is latch important or can the seat be belted in when not in use?
  • How much would you like to spend?
  • How beefy would you like the sides to be?
  • Does it need to be moved often?
  • Do you like the slideguard feature of the Britax?
  • Would you prefer to by from a local store or online? Some seats (for me) can ONLY be found online.

:D
