She fights wearing seat belt with booster seat. Unbuckles while driving. Pitches a fit. Says its ouchy. ER force her to wear it. Never ends well for any on us. All end up upset, late, unhappy. Ideas?

How old is your child? Does she have any behavioral, sensory, or developmental disorders?

Depending how old she is? I'd stick her back in harness. If possible.

A child who is not capable of remaining buckled is not capable of using a booster properly. Unless she's able to learn very quickly, the safest thing to do would be to harness her (or use a portable vest or harness) until she learns.

How old is she, how tall is she, how much does she weigh, and does she have any developmental or behavioral challenges?

A child is not ready for the responsibility of being out of a harness until they can sit in a booster (buckled) properly 100% of the time. I'd re-harness her. What are her stats (age, weight, height) and what booster is she riding in?

Welcome to c-s.org! Thanks for coming here for some help. I'm sure we'll be able to help you. That's a really tough issue and difficult for all of you to deal with. If you can answer the questions the pp'ers gave you, we can help you the most.

In the meantime, the easiest answer we can give you (that was given by others, too) is to put her back in a seat with a 5 point harness that fits her.

Most kids do not ride well in a booster w/a seatbelt until they are around 5-6 years old (and that's provided they don't have any developmental delays or issues), and it's preferred that they weight at least 40 lbs. Many boosters have minimums now of 4 years old and 40 lbs for those reasons.

:)
