issues tightening Radians

I leave the straps on my two Radians adjusted to my kiddos, But occasionally grandparents get over eagar and losen them. I dont realize this usualy until the kids have already climbed in their seats ready to bebuckled. Its nearly IMPISSIBLE totighten the straps when they are sitting in their seats! Not too bad if they are not sitting in them... but aghk!
Anyone else have this issue? Any tips on doing it an easier way?

Are the rearfacing or forward facing?

My radian has to be tightened repeating short pulls and releasing, not hard long pulls. Kinda a ratcheting thing.

If they are rf, you can pull the slack out from the back of the seat and that usually makes it easy to pull the adjuster strap.

:yeahthat: You want to do yank, yank, yank. Mine won't tighten at all if I just pull. Also, with the wait the bottom of the seat is designed, if you have squishy vehicle seats it can mush the straps into the seat making it really hard to tighten, which I'm guessing is why its easier for you without a kid in the seat. There's unfortunately not a way around that that I've found.

Tightening before buckling the crotch buckle can also help with the Radians. :)

We have an XTSL FFing in my car, and I had the hardest time getting the harness tight enough. I read on here to buckle the chest clip first, tighten, then buckle the crotch strap. (Sometimes I tighten too much and then have to start over -- ugh.) It can be a process sometimes, but I do get a snug fit after all that. I feel like the seat is so safe and I love the narrowness, but it has some quirks that drive me nuts!
