What state are you in? Some have ways to report; some don't.

For a completely unrestrained child, I might call 911 or a non-emergency number for the local police if it were a situation in which there were a good likelihood they could be caught.

Nebraska. Kid in front seat without carseator booster. May have been buckled not sure. What is a nonemergency number? Is it just the police stations number insead of 911?

It depends. Look up your local station online or in a phone book, then call and ask what number you should use for something like that. If you have a highway patrol, etc, find out about that too.

I watched a 4 and 2-year-old get buckled into a car today next to mine, no seats. My 4-year-old saw and yelled DO THEY HAVE CARSEATS? I don't know if the mom heard or not.

We'll see them at dance next week and I've told the 4-year-old she can certainly approach them and initiate conversation about it. I hope she does!!! Nothing like a 4-year-old calling you out.

Our area has good carseat use, too, so this is rare to see.

That would be awesome! Please update if she call them out on it!

I actively discourage my kids from giving unsolicited advice to adults. I think it's unbelievably rude, and likely won't be received well by the mom. If YOU want to approach the mom, that's fine, but encouraging your kid to do it sends the wrong message, IMO. Maybe that's just me.

And its not safe to have children approach unknown adults and vehicles.
