Question What weight for FF?

So I have a peanut, she is 3.6 years old, short and 31 lbs. I got her a S4me because she was going to outgrow her MA70 by height soon. I gotta say, I hate tightening that S4me though, such a pain. I kinda want to go back to the Britax and possibly FF her. I think I can squeeze a bit more out of the MA70, which is being moved on a truck to me this week.

I'm just wondering. Does weight matter with FF?

31 pounds seems so little to FF. Does it not work to leave the S4M at the proper tightness?

I keep trying that, but even though her clothes thickness never change she must sit in it differently and then I have up adjust it almost every time. So annoying! She seems too little to me too...

I  how big seats are now.
31lbs seems small, but 3.5 seems plenty old enough to FF. Does it help to grab the harness in the back of the S4M to pull it tighter? That was always the trick in the old Britaxes and Radians that were a pain to tighten.

I could try those tips. I do want to keep her RF to 4 since she is so little. Then I might go back to the MA70.

My 5 year old niece is 32lbs and has been FFing for a few years so to me, 31lbs doesn't seem too too tiny to FF. Obviously, I like the idea of RFing kids for as long as possible since it is safer but at 3.6yrs old I don't think that anyone would give you flack for FFing.

My dd started ffing at 4 and 26 (maybe a little less) lbs. Age is more important than weight from my understanding. :)

I understand. MY ds is 31 pounds, and 4.75 years old, and although I know by age he is fine to FF, he just seems so TINY! It's safe though. Small 3.6 yo bones and muscles are just as strong as bigger ones ;)

I think my DS was maybe 26-27lbs when we switched him FFing. He was over 3yo. We ended up turning him when we could not fit his seat RFing in a rental after my car broke down in Monterey - we live in the Los Angeles area. I could not ride scrunched up into the dashboard the entire way home (7 hours), so we turned his seat. We ended up leaving it FFing after that. At 6.5yo, he is barely 40lbs fully clothed with shoes.

Weight doesn't really factor in for me with FFing or not FFing. I mean, my kids are typical/neurotypical and we don't have any kind of physical or growth issues just to specify that. So I'm more concerned with age than weight/size.

I agree on the age thing.

for eg if I had a child who was 18 months old and 40lbs then I would keep them RFing til they hit 45lbs butif they were 4 and 35lbs Id have no problem having them FF
