TF top tether hook won't stay closed

It has never been used as I only had it rear facing. I went to ff it and the hook won't stay closed. So I called Tomy and they said it was ok and theu had a little clip to keep it closed. I got the clip today and it didn't do anything. Should I be worried about this? Part of me doesn't feel comfortable using it that way although the guy said it is safe.

That was a common complaint a while back. I had one that did that, and I just took some pliers and bent the skinny clippy part back out where it should be. It doesn't take on any loads in a crash, so I felt totally fine doing that.

They sent me a document showing how to bend it using a screw driver. It didn't really work, but if I get the tether tight enough, the hook stays on the anchor, so it doesn't worry me.

:yeahthat: the clip does help some, it's not completely closed, but pretty close. I recieved my tfp with the clip already bent out of shape.

If you use the document they have you need a bigger screwdriver than a pictured and a strong person. You need to overbend it back basically. Then it stays properly. DH did it to 2 (3?) of ours.
