Narrowest infant seat?

We tried putting a booster seat in DH's car with 2 other carseats (Radians) in it and it was clear that that was going to be a horrible solution. The booster (we tried 3 different ones) were just SO unstable in both outboard and center seats and then I know buckling was going to be a PITA. So... this afternoon we went back to BRU and tried an infant seat. I went with the baby trend because it looked narrow to me and it did work in DH's car. It either has to be:

Radian FF, Baby trend, Radian FF or
Baby trend, Radian FF, Radian RF - either of which are doable.

We will have a 5 1/2 year old who is 44" and 49lbs and a 3 year old who is 29lbs and I believe 33" when the baby comes.

The baby trend worked in DH's car, but my car is smaller... So, is it the narrowest solution? And, I don't want to do the corroco, that's too expensive.

And, the 5 year old has more room in his Radian than I thought. His shoulders are still 1/2" below the highest slat on the seat and his head is barely at the top of the seat.

Cybex Aton, hands down. People will probably tell you to try the Baby Trend or Chicco...but in my experience in a tight 3 across the Aton is amazing. The base is so unique, low profile, slim, just awesome.

ACK! That is an expensive infant seat! $300 for the seat and 2 bases. Eeeck!

I'm still going back and forth on trying to figure out a booster option that won't be such a PITA to buckle but I'm not fond of the idea of him being in a backless and all the highback boosters seem way too huge.

Yeah, I paid $170 for my seat/1 base from BuyBuyBaby because they let me order it in the store with a 20% off coupon and free shipping. I didn't get an extra base, in the rare event she went in DH's car at the time we would just use the seat belt.

For boosters I've used the high back Turbo (not my fave but it's okay narrow), the Cybex X-fix, and the Oobr.
