Can the latchplate be touching the belt path? & hard stalk Q

It's outside the belt path, but the edge of the latch plate is touching the edge of the belt path. That's OK, right? I don't want to twist the belt stalk any more.

And in DH's truck, he has hard belt stalks, REALLY long. I can't get a Scenera or a Marathon in AT ALL (it's an F150). Should I just give up, or try another seat?

OK, thanks. That's what I was thinking, and then I had one of those "but maybe..." minutes, and wanted to double check.

Yes, it can touch. Yes, it can be all the way in. The problem arrises when it's only part way in or it lies at a weird angle that doesn't hold the belt tight.

Right, if it's a locking latchplate, it shouldn't be tipped into the belt path, or it'll loosen. Sliding latchplates aren't actually an issue at all :)

Except that if they're tilting at the belt path, you're probably going to have a really hard time getting it tight and may damage the plastic at the belt path while trying to do so. There could be exceptions, but I've found I get the best results with the buckle all the way in or all the way out of the belt path.
