Parkway SGL or Monterey?

Hi,

I am starting to think about which booster to get (am in no rush, as DD is still happily harnessed).

I have a 2009 Toyota Highlander. Does anyone have experience with either of these seats in that vehicle (or a similar year?).

Any pros or cons of either seat would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

The Monterey needs a head restraint behind it. It also has belt guide issues in some vehicles -- the shoulder belt slips out of the guide constantly.

The PWSG/L provides hit or miss belt fit.

I would go try both, with your child, out to your vehicle. It might be that one is just instantly better than the other.

The new belt guides need belts thst come from behind. Like the chevy ones with the belts on the seats. It moves freely with those. But if the belt is mounted on the side even with where the seat is, it doesn't work well.

Oh wow! That's great! Thanks for the pic :)

Honestly, the headrest thing isn't a dealbreaker for me. The Monterey is sturdier than Evenflo & Graco seats that don't require headrests.

My November 2011 DOM Belt guides look like that. I've been really confused as to why people say the belt slips out as the guide certainly grips and keeps it there. Though still allowing it to retract properly.

Yeah, there's a big batch of Monterey's out there with really crappy belt guides. Entirely different than what is pictured above in pp, and what is on your seat. I'm sure someone has a picture of the difference.
