My SIL is ready to buy a convertible for her dd who turned 1yo the end of June. She is currently riding in a KF30 but is about to outgrow it by height. She only has around $100 to spend. She will RF to at least 2yo but not sure she'll go longer than that. So hit me with your fav under $100 convertibles please.:)

I haven't owned one, but I played with a Guide 65, and I liked it. I think it lasts quite a long time, too. Take that with a grain of salt though, because I only got to play with it for a few minutes. It's something like $80 I think.

We have one for our 13 month old and like it, for the price. I put my oldest (6) in it, and it *looked* like she would fit the harness FF, though with the seat being narrow I don't think she'd be very comfortable.

Lousy pictures, but here is the 6 year old

And the 13 month old. The manual states you can RF to the top of the headrest or 40" so it should last well RF

I played with the new Titan 65 (if that's what it's called?) at Target and holy heck the harness is TALL!! DS(!) fit in it in the store but is over the top harness height of an installed GN. Crazy weird. But he's 65 pounds already anyway. It's regularly priced at $100.

For a typically-sized child to RF to age two, if you don't need a narrow seat, I like the Cosco Apt which typically runs about $50. But once it's outgrown RF it's probably also outgrown FF. So you spend less money than you would on a Guide, but you'll have to follow it up with another car seat in a year or two. The Guide is nice too, and if she changes her mind and wants to RF longer she can, and there's a good chance she can use the Guide until the child is old enough for a booster. Either option is good.

It has a restriction on RF to the bottom two (? I think two, maybe 3) harness positions though. Not so awesome unless the kid is teeny in the torso. I think it's a fantastic budget seat for a long torso'd FF kid though.

Ah! Bummer. But great for the masses who don't plan on keeping their kids rear facing as long as many on here do.

Thanks everyone. I told her to look at the Guide 65 and the Surefit. I also told her if she can spend a bit more or if she has time to wait for a sale the MyRide is another great option. She is going to check them all out and when she decides on which one she wants I will show her how to install it.:)
