Squeaky D Ring

My BLVD 70 is RF tethered. The tether strap is snug to the point that if I were to pull it any further, it would change the angle of the seat. Despite being quite snug, the tether connector and the D ring often squeak against each other when I drive over a bump or something, and it's annoying. Any reason not to put a tiny amount of WD40 on the ring itself? Not on the webbing, obviously.

Would a small, stamp-sized piece of thin tape around the D ring work (and be safe), with the tether clipped onto the taped ring? I was thinking electrical tape.

Hopefully a CPST can chime in on whether this would be safe, although I don't see why not.

I had the SAME issue with our Radian that I just fixed today. I thought the tether was as taut as it could be, but I gave it a swift yank and it actually tightened a smidge more... and that was all it took!

I would imagine a small piece of fleece between the two could solve this. Of course this has never been tested yadda yadda :)
