I nanny for two girls, ages 3 and 1. The one year old is still mostly rf. I told the mom when I first started that I wanted to try her 3 year old rf too and just see how it went. Mom said that her legs were so long and she hadn't been rf in forever so she's probably scream if anyone tried. But she said I could try if I wanted. They both ride (mostly) happily rf with me. And guess who was rf in mom's car last week???? The 3 year old! I don't think they really get how much safer rf is cause both kids are ff with dad but I'm just thrilled that they get that its possible for an older kid to ride rf. Its a great step in the right direction!
