I'm not sure which forum this goes into, but I wanted to share my story so others are aware. (If its already been mentioned, I'm sorry, I tried searching & didn't find this specific problem.)
Sunday morning I installed my son's Radian 80SL (man. 10/10, bought by me 12/10, in use since then) in my sister's car & went to harness my 11 month old in.
I was riding between two Radians in a Camry '12 (nice fit--I'm 205 lbs, 5'2") and was expecting an easy car ride.
As I tightened the straps on my little one (it is technically my 2 1/2 yo's seat, he was riding in my sister's R100, so his brother could use our seat instead of a bucket), I noticed that it just WOULD NOT TIGHTEN.
So, I stopped and inspected the seat and somehow the tension-er on the harness straps BROKE. It just isn't working any more.
I was majorly bummed because it meant I had to take a 3 hour car ride between a bucket seat & an R100....which wasn't quite as comfortable.
I called Diono & spoke to a customer service representative. She asked me to email a picture & the serial number.
That is the picture I sent.
She wrote back, "Thanks for the picture I will forward it to our engineers."
And, I was upset because from my googling, it sounded like I was getting brushed off and nothing was going to be done.
So, I wrote back to her, asking what was I supposed to do in the mean time for a car seat (I'm borrowing the R100 from my sister & the baby is in his bucket seat still). I asked when I would hear something and left my telephone number again.
I didn't hear anything for several hours so I called & left a message for her to please return my call.
Just before closing time in WA I got a call from the representative, letting me know that they would be mailing me a NEW car seat and shipping materials so that I can send the broken one back.
They are replacing my 10/10 Radian 80SL with a R120. I'm glad that they are making it right, even though we were outside of their 1 year warranty.
