Yesterday I had a very productive day. I went to a sale to benefit a local animal shelter and got them to throw away a Cosco nbb with a shield made in 97 after explaining it was expired. Then I explained to my friend's 8 year old why she still had to use a nbb in her mom's van. I had her sit in one of the captains chairs with just a seatbelt and explained to her about five stepping and why she had to meet each of the requirements. She didn't meet any of them. Then I had her use her backless turbo and showed her how her belt fits correctly with it.
She understood, but asked how long it would probably be before she could ride without it. I told her she might have to use it until she's 11 or 12(she was nowhere near five stepping) and that just because other kids in her class didn't use them it didn't mean it was safe or legal. Her mom was happy because she's been sneaking out of her seat lately.
After that I talked to my friend about who sits where in her van when she has both of her girls and both of her roommates boys. She usually leaves one of her captains chairs out and we discussed her center back row only having a lap belt and no headrest. I think I convinced her that she has to use her captains chair and not the center seat.
So yeah it was a productive day yesterday. Heck it was so productive that my 2 year old fell asleep in the car on the way home.
