My 6yr old son is currently riding in the nautilus. I am just hoping you all can tell me if it looks like I have it adjusted properly. Im not a tech & fairly new here & still learning :) To me I feel that maybe the headrest needs to come up a little? Are the red belt guides too close to his shoulders? Also he seems to be right at the slot on the harness sometimes it looks like his shoulder is a tiny bit above it. Should I move the harness straps to the next notch?

Sorry if the pics aren't from good angles

I'd move up too. It's going to look funny, and the wings will look way to high for a while but that's just how it is. Make sure the headrest doesn't cover the harness at all.

I had the same issue with both my girls. It looked really odd at first, but they both quickly grew into the new harness slot!

You will learn a lot about car seats on this site, that you will never ever dream of learning! :)

When a child is sitting front facing, the harness must be at or slightly above a child's shoulders. This may seem insignificant, but if the harness were below a child's shoulders, the child's spine will compress in a crash, which isn't good (spinal cord injuries).

I found this nice crash test video showing why (one child has the harness correctly adjusted and the other child has the harness beneath his shoulders).

I also noticed that his chest clip needs to be pushed up a smidgen (about an inch). It should be at armpit level.

Thank you! I have certainly learned a lot in the short amount of time of visiting here. I just wish I would've known some of this stuff when my kids were babies!! But I'm truly greatful for all this advice!

I took out the seat and adjusted the headrest and harness straps :) the fit looks much better

Thanks again to everyone who replied!
