New York State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel Aubertine today alerted consumers that Productos Tita Corp, (Trade Name of Tita Products), located in Glendale, New York, is voluntarily recalling certain Tita brand fresh cheese products due to the improper pasteurization of the milk used to make the cheese. The recalled products were sold in the metropolitan New York area.

Morgan Foods, Inc., an Austin, Ind. establishment, is recalling approximately 94,850 pounds of corn chowder soup products (“Hill Country Fare Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder,” Wegman’s Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder,” “Chef’s Cupboard Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder” and “America’s Choice Chicken Corn Chowder Chunky”) that may contain foreign materials. They were produced on February 29, 2012. The “Hill Country Fare Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder” product was shipped to retail stores in Texas. The “Wegman’s Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder” product was distributed to retail stores in New York. The “Chef’s Cupboard Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder” product was distributed to retail stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin. The “America’s Choice Chicken Corn Chowder Chunky” product was distributed to retail stores in Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Buona Vita, Inc., a Bridgeton, N.J. establishment, is recalling approximately 72,510 pounds of various frozen, ready-to-eat meat and poultry products (Silver Lake Meatballs, Guon Gusto Meatballs, MamPisa Meatballs, Sapore Italiano Meatballs) due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The products were sold to distribution facilities nationwide.

Hannaford Supermarkets today alerted customers to a recall issued by New Jersey-based Buona Vita Inc. of three meatball products, due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The three products are all sold through the deli department: Homestyle Meatballs with Sauce, sold by the pound; Meatball Panini - cold, UPC # 941260723096; and Meatball Panini - hot, UPC # 94126072102.

Gills Onions, LLC of Oxnard, CA is initiating a voluntary recall of a single day’s production of diced and slivered red and yellow onions and diced celery and onion mix because they may be contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes. The recalled products, which are packaged under the brand "Gill's Onions," were shipped between July 2-4, 2012 directly from Gills Onions to retailers in Canada and the following U.S. states: California, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah and Washington.

Westone Laboratories, Inc. is initiating a voluntary nationwide recall of all sizes and packaging configurations of Oto-Ease® ear lubricant. The products have been found through a consumer complaint and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sample analysis to be potentially contaminated with pathogenic bacteria and mold. The products were distributed to hospitals, health professionals, and retailers nationwide.

Elevated vitamin D levels may cause death or otherwise be harmful to animals and fish if fed for extended periods, potentially resulting in lack of interest in eating, weight loss and possible joint stiffness. The products were manufactured at the Richmond, IN feed plant and were distributed nationwide starting April 2, 2012 through May 8, 2012.

Hospira Announces A Nationwide Recall of Certain Lots of Injectable Carboplatin, Cytarabine, Paclitaxel and Methotrexate Due to Glass Vial Defect. These products are packaged in vials and are used to treat various types of cancer. In addition, methotrexate is also used to treat psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis. These products were distributed nationwide to wholesalers and direct customers.
