Dose anyone really like their RN for a FFing seat. I know It makes a good RFing seat, as I have one. But I haven't herd to much about It FFing. Just wondering?

Thanks, Kelley

I have RN80sl (2of them) and an RXT (1) and love them RF but am kinda meh about them FF. I prefer the lack of headwings FF because monkey gets terrible headslump in the RXT FF. He's only been in the RN80sl once when he fell asleep but didn't slump nearly as bad as the rxt. I think it truly depends on your vehicle seats. Mine are very flat and not angled much yet work great for rf and not so much FF.

My kids do pretty well without head slump in it FF. I like it when you need a narrow seat- we have one installed in my mom's Sentra, where we need to fit a booster on each side, for instance. It's not my FAVORITE seat FF, but no convertible is. It's true that the seats they're on can make a difference (and so can belt geometry) but when you need narrow, most seats aren't going to compare.

Nathaniel's only been FF in his for a few weeks and hasn't slept in it yet so I don't know how he does with head slump. It's easy for him to get in and out of (a big plus for me) and he can buckle his chest clip and position the lower buckles for me so that I can even finish his buckles from the front seat, which will be quite useful once Peter's on the other side of him. I do like how it fits well in the narrow space between 2 RF seats. The only thing that would make it better for me is if the sides were a bit deeper so that Aaron couldn't kick his feet up on his brother!

We just turned our DD FF, and it's been as easy as RF. Installed easily (3rd row of a 2008 dodge grand caravan), DD climbs in herself and buckles the chest clip, and then I buckle the rest.

Of course, I wanted to dislike it so I could go out and buy a new combination seat for her, but we really don't need to. It's great, however, DD does not sleep in the car unless we are driving all day, so I cannot comment on head slump.

Similar to CJ.

...meh about it FFing. DD1 used to sit in it FFing but had terrible head slump even with the recline feature.

FWIW, I used to own the RNXTSL.

I have recently starting using my RN FF for the little boy I watch. We usually only go on short trips, so I am not sure how he would sleep in it. But I like that it is easy for me to get him in and out of. I had a Maestro for a while and it was a pain to get him up over the arm rests. I am not sure if that would be the same for other people though. I have a small car (99 escort) and he has minor mobility issues which I think play a huge part in it. He really likes it though and says its very comfortable.

Great information, thanks!
I ordered the Trekk RN for my 26mo old DS, It should be here tomorrow!!!!
I guess If I hate It FFing I Can get something else then. I just really like the narrowness and low profile.
Since I'm trying to keep everything 3 across friendly, I figured the RN Is my best bet.
I go back and forth on the FOONF. It would also be narrow, but I don't think I like how high It sits. I might change my mind after I see how you all like It as a FFing seat though.

Although my 4 boys got excited over the Trekk camo on the RN. So I should just hope It works for us, lol.

Thanks again, Kelley

I've only been using it ff for a couple weeks, but I'm the opposite of most people here. I only liked it okay rf, and only with the angle adjuster, at that. I really like it ff. I love the low profile. I strongly dislike ff convertibles with a big base.

We don't have head slump issues, because my kids almost never sleep in the car. We just took a 10 day road trip, and dd didn't sleep a wink.

Great information, thanks!

heads up - carseatblog says Trekk has weird green tones, almost minty.

I should add to my part above that I don't love the XTST/RXT headwings. Mine's an 80 (not even SL).

I don't think the internal seating part is all that much higher on the Foonf. Not like comparing a Radian to a Britax or Recaro or anything.

OK, thanks for the heads up on the color. I won't be shocked that way when I open It. Although, a weird green color would be a huge hit with the boys, lol.

I've never had head wings on any of my RN's before, so should be interesting. I can't hardly wait till the FED X man gets here in the morning, lol.

I'm very excited for everyone to get their Foonf's also. I hope I hate It though, lol!

I love the radian FFing. I love it RFing. I just love it, LOL. I don't love any of the models (xt, xtsl, etc) with the headwings. They have given me too much trouble but I would take a radian with headwings over some other seats for sure.

I used the xtsl forward facing for my daughter when we got it, and I really liked it as a FF seat. My only complaints were that she complained on long trips because her legs hung funny (a lightweight leg support would fix that) and that it was incompatible with my vehicle FF with seatbelt.
I also like it as an ERF seat for my almost 3yo. I like the RXT better than the xtsl for this.

Here she is at 5 years old. Edited, the wings look a bit high in that pic.

We like it as a ff seat. I also don't like convertibles on a base for ff (I HATED the classic MA for ff). I really didn't want to get a combo seat for ds; I'd rather get a dedicated booster down the road anyway.
Sometimes he gets head slump, sometimes he doesn't. He only sleeps in the car if we're on a long road trip, so I don't worry about it.

:yeahthatlove: to all the above! I LOVE :love::love: my Radians forward facing! I love the narrowness and the low profile! I hate big bases!
We used 3 radians at the same time at one point but now my daughters are in boosters. It makes me kinda sad to see only 1 radian in my van now. I'm going to be really sad when my son outgrows it. I Really love radians! Mine don't have headwings. I really dislike those.

We end up with major slumpage in the rxt. As I said previously he hasn't slept sans headwings so I'm not sure if he'd slump then or not.
He did a little better with his hood up (pic=pre slump) and did a lot better in just a t shirt but still bobbed between head to chest.
