When reasonable to use NBB?

When would you start using one for transporting other kids or transport on field trips or occasional rides home? Also, which one is decent for new NBB riders? We are barely into HBB for DS1 so I don't have much experience with NBB.

Yeah. Occasional use, 6 or so, 40 lbs. or so, sits properly, meets seat's minimums.

The Harmony LiteRider, BubbleBum, and backless Turbo all do well for smaller riders. The LiteRider has a 30 lb. minimum, the others are 40.

for occasional trips or when they aren't kids who fall asleep in the car... pretty much as long as the seatbelt sits how it should (or how it would in the highback giving a good fit), then I'm fine with it.

For RUTHIE... oh it's been 3 kinds of hell trying to find a backless she could ride in.... so FINALLY at almost 8.5yrs old, she FINALLY is able to use a backless booster. Those narrow shoulders... the fit on every backless booster was horrid. We finally got a Cosco Top Side yesterday and it is PERFECT... so yeah, unless I have time to check the fit on her first, as long as her probooster is compatible, anywhere she might go, that's going with her... fortunately, she rarely goes with anyone other than in my or my dh's vehicles.

We started using a backless for riding with friends (or friends with us) at the beginning of 1st grade. That happens to be when I bought a Literider. He'd been in a booster for just over a year at that point, and I probably would have been okay with a backless sooner.

I got a backless Amp for my son a few months back to use as a rare spare, he is small, 41lbs, 48", 7y5m and it fits him fantastically. Great seat.

:yeahthat: We got Jamie a literider when she turned 6 (she was 38 lbs, she is 40 now). I still like her to use her HBTB but sometimes it is just easier to use a backless.
