Wow, I see Graco sales going way up! Smart move!

I can't tell you how often I see the "toxic car seat" panic mentioned!

That's great! I hope other companies follow suit. And not just for carseats or kids' stuff.

That's great. I actually didn't know about this issue. Can anyone tell me What the levels are for graco nautilus in bravo, and graco myride 65 in Coda? I looked on the healthystuff.org website & it doesn't show toxicity levels for these models.

I suspect other baby-gear companies will follow suit. Partly because of peer pressure, but partly because some of those chemicals have been added to California's Prop 65 list, meaning that products that contain those chemicals will have to be labeled with a statement that they contain materials known to the state of California to cause cancer. That's not exactly sexy marketing on a Pack-N-Play.

Graco has decided to stop using the "tris" ones, which are the known carcinogens, and Firemaster 550, which seems to be even worse than the previously used, very popular but highly unsafe one.

I'm not sure what the "better" ones are, but Europe has much higher standards for their chemicals, and I know Cybex uses those.

When does Graco's less toxic seats come out? I wonder if the new Size4me/My Size uses the less toxic flame retardants. I can't seem to find any information. I have been waiting to buy LO a convertible seat... but I can't wait any longer, she is getting too tall for her infant seat soon.

That sounds good! Way to go Graco!

So would seats in stores still have the bad retardants or did they already implement this? (I didn't read the article yet cause we are heading out the door to go buy a turbo ss at target! Will read later but just wishful thinking that they have already stopped using the toxic ones)

ETA: didn't make it to target after all, baby was too fussy but hopefully tomorrow afternoon! I read the article and didn't see any mention of when they are actually implementing this. Sounds great tho! It's scary how many carcinogens we are exposed to everyday without even realizing it. :/

If only the new buckles and harness adjusters weren't such a pain, I'd be buying all Graco seats! Maybe they will get that problem solved in the next year as well.

I had no idea this was even a problem with car seats. Darn chemicals are everywhere I guess. Is there a way to look up how my Radians and CCO are doing in this respect? I tried healthystuff.org but couldn't find any car seat info. Maybe I didn't search correctly?

This is great! My DS 2 had blistered elbows from our chicco keyfit cover. He was fine until 2 months when the weather turned warm and we stopped putting him in long sleeve sleepers. Blisters showed up 2 days later...even our pedi was confused. We had to order a bokoo cover for it which solved everything. I was glad there was an approved by manufacturer option with a "green" cover. But it was an expense I had not really planned on. Manufacturers should not be treating car seat covers with such toxic chemicals in the first place!
