Diono Radian RXT headrest cannot hold in position

Just post this thread in General Child Safety Seat Questions, Tips and Advice section, but seems no one has the same experience. So I re-post it here.

When I put it at a high location, the headrest will slide down to a lower position automatically. I have tried several times. The headrest just cannot hold in its position. I have contacted Ms. Kristin from Diono customer support. She gave me the following link:

But the car seat in the video is Rdian XTSL. The difference is that in my RXT the cover doesn't surrounds the headrest closely. So the way in the video doesn't work for my car seat. Does anyone have similar experience? Thanks!

The very slight difference between the RXT and XTSL covers shouldn't make any difference at all. It's not the cover that holds the head rest in place.

Take the cover off and find the screw that holds the head rest on. It's in the center of the head rest. Tighten it just a smidge and see if that solves it. It shouldn't be too tight or you won't be able to adjust the wings at all.

If that doesn't do it, call Diono back and tell them you think your head wings are defective.

Brigala,

Thank you for your reply! Is the hexagon head screws in the attachment the one you mentioned? Thanks!

Hmm. Maybe. It's been well over a year since I've had to make an adjustment to my Radian head rest. I thought it was in the center, but I could be mistaken. That does look like it's probably the plate you need to tighten - is there another one on the other side?
