Question Career Paths for CPST's

Hello! I am wondering what college degree CPST or CPSI's have. I am pursuing a career in child safety and want to vamp it up with some college. Ideally I would like to work at a hospital helping new parents or caregivers correctly install their childrens seats as well as provide informational classes much like a breastfeeding class would be given by a lactation consultant. I would love to hear any suggestions for a degree path to pursue my goals. Thank you very much!!

Most CPSTs just go through training on their own, separate from whatever degree they have. Most CPSTs (though the minority on this particular board) are CPSTs as part of their job, often law enforcement, firefighters, nurses, etc. Very few CPSTs make a full-time living off of JUST being a CPST. Usually it's a small portion of their larger job.

A friend of mine has a masters degree in Public Health Administration, and she uses that for her job in injury prevention at a large children's hospital. CPST work is a large part of what she does, but not the only thing by far.

I just checked your profile and see that you're already a CPST. If you want to teach classes for new parents, that's something you can do now without any other specific education. Check with local hospitals or community centers to see if you can arrange something.
