HBB vs LBB

What's the advantage of HBBs over LBBs? My nephew is 7 and well over four feet (maybe 54"?) and sometimes when he rides with me itd be convenient to have a cheap, small LBB for him to use, if it's safe.

I'm also wondering about puzzling with boosters: how can you tell if they're 'in' well enough, since they aren't strapped in? My backseat (Prius) has depressions in the seat centers that flare up on the sides, and putting a booster in there often ends up with it sitting a bit crooked, although the belt placement still looks acceptable to me.

A backless at his age is fine. The advantages are that the high back adjusts the shoulder belt to a comfortable level, provides a place to rest the head, and reminds a child to hold still with shell around them. If there's no headrest, a high back booster that doesn't require support from the car will give whiplash protection.

If it fits, they sits. :) It doesn't have to be perfect, just sit on the seat and adjust the child so the lap belt and shoulder belt fit properly, and acts as artificial hips.
