Just a disappointed vent, really.
I was travelling home from work on Friday when we got stuck in traffic because of an accident. I "amused" myself by staring brazenly into other people's cars. I only saw 6 kids/seats, but ended up with 6 for 6 in terms of crappy use or less than ideal choices. I didn't even look at the adults because you know that would be bad.
One lady had an empty seat with an overhead shield. I don't know enough about the seats to know if it was old as well as a crappy choice. There was one kid who looked about 11 who was sitting in the front seat, which I guess is ok but now that I know more I would have liked to see him in the back. Another young teen girl in the back seat but I didn't see a seatbelt, so she either wasn't wearing one or had put the shoulder belt behind her. One car with two kids had a boy who looked about a year old FF in a 3-in-1, and he was sitting sort of leaning to the side so I am assuming his harness was pretty slack. The little girl next to him I would guess was about 3 or 4, in a highback booster, but with the shoulder belt tucked behind her (WHY?!). And then a little baby, probably close to a year and adorably chubby, sleeping peacefully in a RF AOE. I was so excited to see one child restrained well, until we passed them again and I noticed the chest clip was almost on his belly. SO close to being very well done.
Anyway, that's my vent for today.
